Champions League Futbol

A disappointing lose for Real Madrid this past weekend against Bayern Munich. The game was played in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. This was was the second leg of the Champions League with Bayern Munich winning the first leg in Munich 2-1 the week before. Real Madrid went into the game knowing that it was not going to be a simple game. Also, Real Madrid knew that they had to win by at least 2 goals to advance to the Champions League final on May 6, 2012 in Munich. The game started out very exciting with two goals from Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo within the first 10 minutes! Munich fought back and won a penalty in the 34th minute as Holland midfielder finished from the spot to make it 2-1. The game remained 2-1 for the rest of regulation time. It went to overtime with both teams knowing penalties were after overtime is neither time scored. Fatigue began to show in both teams. Munich had a majority of chances in overtime, but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. The game went to penalties. Penalties are a very nerve wrecking thing in soccer. All players for Bayern Munich scored their penalties, and all except for one scored for Real Madrid. The player that missed was Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos. Bayern Munich ended up winning the game, and they'll play in the Champions League final.

The Manchester Derby

Tomorrow the biggest game in the Premier League will be played. The game is between Manchester City and Manchester United. It will be played at Ethihad Stadium in Manchester. At this moment, Manchester United is first place with 83 points, and Manchester City is second place with 80 points. The winner of this game will determine the winner of the Premier League. There is a lot on the line. This game would have a lot of excitement to it despite the fact that these teams are playing to be champions of the Premier League. Manchester United and Manchester City have been rivals since 1960, and since then Manchester United has won 19 League titles, and Manchester City has yet to win one. This 2011-2012 campaign for Manchester City has been the best the club has seen in club history. Previous matches this year that these teams have met, Manchester United won 4-0 at home and Manchester City won at their home 6-2. The game tomorrow will be the mother of derbies.

A Legend Leaves Legacy

Today, head coach of Barcelona, Pep Guardiola, has announced he will quit his coaching career with FC Barcelona at the end of the season. This was very devastating news for Barcelona fans. Pep Guardiola has been head coach of FC Barcelona for the past 4 years, and those 4 years have been the best in club history. In those four years, FC Barcelona has won the Champions League twice, the League Cup 3 times, and Copa Del Rey 3 times. Pep Gurardiola has thought to have produced the best soccer team in all soccer history. Soccernet.com interviewed Pep Guardiola after announcing his decision of leaving FB Barcelona as he said, “Four years is an eternity as Barcelona manager. The next person will be able to offer things that I wasn’t able to offer. It has been very demanding and a coach has to be strong and be able to get that energy across to the players. I have to recover it and I’ll do that by resting. I am leaving with the sensation of having done a good job and I’m proud of what I’ve done here, I am leaving at peace with myself”

The Best Soccer Player in the World

Who is the best soccer player in the world? This has been a question all soccer fans argue about. It's definitely between the Argentinian named Lionel Messi and the Portuguese winger, Cristiano Ronaldo. In the past two years, each of these players have won the World Player of the Year trophy. When talking about players such as these two, its a very tough decision the decide which one is the better player. They both have different attributes. Lionel Messi is a quick left footed forward. He plays in Barcelona with the club called FC Barcelona. In his career at Barcelona, Lionel Messi has won the League Title 5 times and the Champions League twice. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo is a very fast strong winger. Cristiano Ronaldo is mainly concerned with creating goals not scoring them. At this moment, Cristiano Ronaldo plays in Madrid for a club called Real Madrid. Before playing for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo played for Manchester United. He has won the League Title 6 times and the Champions League once. These two players on the same team would be a deadly combination.
