A disappointing lose for Real Madrid this past weekend against Bayern Munich. The game was played in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. This was was the second leg of the Champions League with Bayern Munich winning the first leg in Munich 2-1 the week before. Real Madrid went into the game knowing that it was not going to be a simple game. Also, Real Madrid knew that they had to win by at least 2 goals to advance to the Champions League final on May 6, 2012 in Munich. The game started out very exciting with two goals from Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo within the first 10 minutes! Munich fought back and won a penalty in the 34th minute as Holland midfielder finished from the spot to make it 2-1. The game remained 2-1 for the rest of regulation time. It went to overtime with both teams knowing penalties were after overtime is neither time scored. Fatigue began to show in both teams. Munich had a majority of chances in overtime, but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. The game went to penalties. Penalties are a very nerve wrecking thing in soccer. All players for Bayern Munich scored their penalties, and all except for one scored for Real Madrid. The player that missed was Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos. Bayern Munich ended up winning the game, and they'll play in the Champions League final.
